‘aqeeqah, should a poor pay when she or he has debt to pay?

Praise be to Allah
In the name of Allah the most gracious most merciful.Aqeeqa is an act shown by prophet (sal)
‘Aqeeqah is Sunnah mu’akkadah. For a boy two sheep which meet the conditions for sacrifice should be slaughtered, and for a girl one sheep. The sheep should be slaughtered on the seventh day, but if it is delayed it is permissible to slaughter them at any time, and there is no sin in delaying it, but it is better to do it as soon as possible.

It was narrated that Buraydah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: During the Jaahiliyyah, if a boy was born to one of us, we would slaughter a sheep and smear his head with its blood. When Allaah brought Islam, we would slaughter a sheep and shave (the child’s) head and smear it with saffron (Saffron is a type of perfume. )Narrated by Abu Dawood, 2843; classed as saheeh by Shaykh al-Albaani inSaheeh Abi Dawood.

It was narrated from ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) commanded them (to slaughter) two sheep of similar type for a boy and one sheep for a girl.  Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 1513, who said it is hasan saheeh; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi.

But there is no difference of opinion that it is not obligatory for one who is poor, let alone one who is in debt. Something that is more important than ‘aqeeqah – such as Hajj for example – does not take precedence over paying off debts.

“Allaah burdens not a person beyond his scope” [al-Baqarah 2:286]

“and [Allaah] has not laid upon you in religion any hardship” [al-Hajj 22:78]

Wedding party :enable the couple to find a means of happiness

Celebrating weddings is a celebration that is prescribed in sharee’ah, because it is a great blessing from Allaah, Who has enabled the couple to find a means of happiness and a way to achieve modesty and chastity. People have always expressed their joy for this blessing since ancient times and they still do so today, and that takes various forms and involves different customs in different societies and countries.

And as muslims we are bound to follow the prescribed way of life as shown by our beloved prophet (sal). With regard to having a wedding party in the Islamic manner, you have to keep away from the things which are forbidden in sharee’ah but which many people do not pay attention to during celebrations, such as the following:

1.With regard to the woman
going to a male, non-mahram hairdresser to have her hair done; or adorning herself in ways that are haraam, such as thinning the eyebrows by plucking them, or wearing tattoos, or wearing hair extensions, or other kinds of haraam things.

2.With regard to man
shaving his beard for the wedding night, which is done on the grounds that this makes him look more handsome, but this is something which is haraam according to sharee’ah; letting one's clothes hang below the ankle (isbaal).

3.Both men and women should avoid in the wedding party:
  • Mixing of men with women, and things that are involved in that, such as greeting and shaking hands with one another, and men and women dancing together, because all of that is haraam and is a very serious matter
  • Sing songs with bad meanings ,using unpermitted musical instruments and music during the party
  • Eating or Drinking which is forbidden in Islam such as wine ,pork....
  • Women wearing revealing, tight or short clothes.
  • spending extravagantly or going to extremes in showing off in wedding parties, because that may wipe out the blessing
  • The husband and wife exchanging rings ,cutting wedding cakes  thus imitating the kuffaar, thinking that this will increase the husband’s love for his wife and vice versa
Fear Allaah with regard to wedding party and keep it free of things that are forbidden in Islam.During wedding party make sure the bride and groom are clear about their rights and obligations of  marriage life.
