The Belief in Existence of Allah

The Four Foundations
1. Proof of Fitrah (Human Nature)
Every creature has been created in a state of belief in his creator without preceding thought or education. Inside ourselves, we know there is a God; we do not actually need any proof for that. Not only that, but we also know that there is Only One God: Allah.
فَأَقِمْ وَجْهَكَ لِلدِّينِ حَنِيفاً فِطْرَةَ اللَّهِ الَّتِى فَطَرَ النَّاسَ عَلَيْهَا لاَ تَبْدِيلَ لِخَلْقِ اللَّهِ ذَلِكَ الدِّينُ الْقَيِّمُ وَلَـكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ
“So set your face towards the Religion of pure Islamic Monotheism... Allah has created mankind with fitrah. Let there be no change in the Religion of Allah; that is the Straight religion, but most men know not.” [Surah Ar-Rum 30:30]
Factors of Deviation
Affirming the existence of Allah is from our fitrah. However, parents, teachers, and media can transform these thoughts and alter the pure state, covering the heart from the truth.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said:
“Every child is born on fitrah, but his parents make him a Jew, a Christian or a Magian.”
[Bukhari and Muslim]
The Influence of Satan (Shaytan)
Satan vowed to mislead the children of Adam. He runs in the human veins like blood, whispering in the heart to corrupt the pure fitrah.
قَالَ فَبِعِزَّتِكَ لأغْوِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ إِلاَّ عِبَادَكَ مِنْهُمُ الْمُخْلَصِينَ
“Satan said: 'By Your Might, I will surely mislead them all, except Your chosen slaves amongst them.'” [Surah Sad 38:82-83]
Revival During Calamity
The sound fitrah often reappears during disasters. When a person feels helpless, they instinctively return to their Creator for aid.
وَإِذَا مَسَّ الإِنْسَانَ الضُّرُّ دَعَانَا لِجَنْبِهِ أَوْ قَاعِدًا أَوْ قَائِمًا فَلَمَّا كَشَفْنَا عَنْهُ ضُرَّهُ مَرَّ كَأَنْ لَمْ يَدْعُنَا إِلَىٰ ضُرٍّ مَسَّهُ
“And when affliction touches man, he calls upon Us... but when We remove from him his affliction, he continues as if he had never called upon Us...” [Surah Yunus 10:12]
