Extravagances...... view in light of Quran and sunnah

Assalamu Alilkum warahmathullahi wa barakathuhu My dear readers,
This article of mine will be based on a special topic called "extravagance vs Islam".The reason why I selected this particular topic is to explain my dear readers how bad its waste. We say people around the world is suffering without water, food, shelter, clothing or money and so on and we create videos or presentations or an article while we are spending extravagantly not only for our basic needs but also for our small unwanted pleasures .

It does not mean we should not spend but it means that we are accountable for each and every expenditure. And extravagance bring pride and will make us of arrogant boasters to which will abide hell.

Allah says in Quran

Extravagance: and eat and drink but waste not by extravagance, certainly He (Allah) likes not Al-Musrifin (those who waste by extravagance(7:31)
Proud: Verily He loves not the arrogant (proud).” [Surah Al Nahl 16:23]

Arrogant boasters:For Allah loves not any arrogant boaster.” [Surah Luqman 31:18]

In sunnah traditiopns of prophet ﷺ it is mentioned in many instance to stop extravagance:

Narrated Al-Mughira bin Shu`ba:The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Allah has forbidden for you, (1) to be undutiful to your mothers, (2) to bury your daughters alive, (3) to not to pay the rights of the others (e.g. charity, etc.) and (4) to beg of men (begging). And Allah has hated for you (1) vain, useless talk, or that you talk too much about others, (2) to ask too many questions, (in disputed religious matters) and (3) to waste the wealth (by extravagance).(Sahih al-Bukhari 2408)

Amro bin Shu’aib narrated on the authority of his father, on the authority of his grandfather (RAA), that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:“Eat, drink, wear clothes and give sadaqah but with neither extravagance nor pride.” (Related by Abu Dawud and Ahmad Book 16, Hadith 1496)

Hind bint `Utba (Abu Sufyan's wife) came and said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Abu Sufyan is a miser. Is there any harm if I spend something from his property for our children?" He said, there is no harm for you if you feed them from it justly and reasonably (with no extravagance).(Sahih al-Bukhari 2460)

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "If a woman gives in charity from her house meals without wasting (i.e. being extravagant), she will get the reward for her giving, and her husband will also get the reward for his earning and the storekeeper will also get a similar reward. The acquisition of the reward of none of them will reduce the reward of the others."(Sahih al-Bukhari 2065)

May Allah protect us from Extravagance and stinginess and May he make us of the good doers and gift us with Jannathul Firdous
